Simple Things

I want to be satisfied with the simple things in my life.
I am not a high maintenance person.
I am definitely not a Diva.
I don’t need a lot of stuff to make me happy.
All I want is to be comfortable and to have certain things that will keep me comfortable.

  • I don’t need the latest model car. But I do want reliability. I want to get from point A to point B and then back to point A again. And I don’t want to put a lot of money into the car for maintenance purposes.
  • I don’t need a big house! That just means more to clean and I’d rather spend my time doing what I really like to do and housekeeping is not what I really like to do. We are ready to downsize. I could move into a tiny cottage or a two bedroom apartment. All I want is a patio, balcony or lanai so I can enjoy the outdoors.
  • I don’t need a lot of clothes. I am not a fashionista. I don’t need name brands. I do want comfortable clothes. I want my clothes to fit me and the occasion in which I am wearing them. I just need the basics really. Give me jeans, t-shirts, a skirt or two and the proverbial black dress…I’ll be set!
  • I don’t need a lot of different foods to eat. I am really working on this! I want to be satisfied with whole, natural foods. Forget the chips, candies and processed foods. I want to be satisfied with fruits and vegetables and plenty of water to drink.
  • I don’t need to go out a lot. I am not a partying type person. I am content to stay home and read, watch a movie, listen to music or lose myself in my computer. To pad around the house in comfy clothes with no agenda, is my idea of a perfect day!
  • I don’t need to be surrounded by a lot of people. But the people that I am around, I want them to mean something to me. I am satisfied with spending time with just me and Jackie. He’s my husband, my friend, my lover, my confidant, my hanging out buddy, my computer geek friend. He completes me and he is the opposite of me…

So, I’m almost there in where I want to be, with just some minor tweaking. But in the meantime, I am already satisfied with my life.

  1. Nicely written, I like your “happy list” 🙂

    • Thank you! I like that terminology, “Happy List”!
